Teach the person, not just the drill.

Never 2 Late Hockey was created to give adults the kind of introduction to hockey that many never had: structured, welcoming, practical and built around progress rather than pressure.

Devon played elite hockey in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and has coached hockey and rugby for adults and youth. Those experiences taught him that great coaching is more than demonstrating a skill. It means explaining why it matters, breaking it into achievable steps and finding the cue that helps movement click.

Away from sport, Devon works as an estimator for a national fire-prevention company and serves his community as a volunteer firefighter. Preparation, safety, teamwork and service shape the culture he is building at Never 2 Late Hockey.

Coaching philosophy

Challenge people appropriately. Make every repetition useful.

  • Build skating confidence before adding unnecessary speed or pressure.
  • Explain hockey language and game concepts without assuming prior knowledge.
  • Give feedback a participant can use on the very next repetition.
  • Respect differences in age, fitness, mobility and experience.
  • Make the rink somewhere adults look forward to returning to every week.
